Greetings, Beacon Families,
One unique thing about Bookman Road Elementary is that each child has an opportunity to give back to our school in some way. Each classroom has a service that they do for our school to help it flow smoothly or look nice. On an even larger scale, each grade level works together to sponsor a charity to give back to the greater community. You will be hearing about ways that you can help to support our school and community throughout the year, as well.
One very important classroom service here at Bookman Road is called the “Pelican Postal Service.” A class within our school delivers mail from students and staff to others throughout the school. We want to encourage you to take advantage of this service by writing to your child or to a favorite staff member.
In the front office, you will find a message station with Happy Grams for visitors to write a small note of thanks, appreciation, or a simple hello to a student, staff member, or SIC/PTO member. So, if you are ever in the school for any reason and have a spare minute, we encourage you to fill out a Happy Gram.
Bookman Road Elementary is truly a school of readers and writers, and we thank you for your support.

Week of September 17th
Mrs. Ohmer's Third Grade Class
It has been a wonderful start to third grade in Mrs. Ohmer’s class! Our class has enjoyed getting to know each other, learning about SC Geography, building reading stamina, and practicing math skills. We are about to begin our very first writing unit which will be on narrative writing. Our class enjoys taking part in our class service which is bulletin board maintenance. Our friends make sure that the hallway bulletin boards are well-maintained, and they take the initiative to fix them throughout the week. We are always looking for ways to week. We are always looking for ways to help out around our classroom, school, and community. We can't wait to be the “class of the week” next week, and we are excited for an awesome year in third grade!
