Greetings, Beacon Families!

Happy New Year! It’s so exciting to see everyone back and ready to finish off the second half of the year with a blast.

This week our students and teachers participated or will participate in a school wide “Procedure Day.” The purpose of Procedure Days are to take the opportunity to review some very important procedures that help our school days flow smoothly. We are asking that you also take the time to review procedures that help to keep our students safe, particularly during morning and afternoon dismissal.

Here are a few reminders:
Morning Car-Rider Procedures
The morning rush can be a hectic one. Please use the LIFESKILLS of patience and cooperation during this time.

IF YOU ARE DROPPING OFF YOUR CHILD, please use the main entrance at the front of the school. When dropping off, proceed around the circle, moving as far forward as space permits and have your child exit on the passenger side of the car. Students are to enter through the doors to the left and right of the main office and proceed to the multi-purpose room (K-2), Seaside Café (3-5), or to eat breakfast. Staff members will be on-hand to assist parents and students through this process. Carpool hours are between 7:30 am and 8:00 am. There is no parking at the front during carpool hours (AM or PM).  Remember: The front car loop is for dropping off only, so you must remain in your car. ***AFTER 8:00 a.m. PLEASE DO NOT DISREGARD THESE PROCEDURES. Please refrain from speeding around stopped cars or pulling into the staff parking lot to bypass the  car rider line. Please stay in line and wait patiently for students to exit their cars. If you are in a rush, please arrive before 8:00 so that staff members may assist you. Students will enter through the front office doors after 8:00 a.m.

IF YOU ARE WALKING YOUR CHILD INTO SCHOOL, the back parking lot is available for you to park in parking spaces – not along the curb or near the dumpster – and walk your child to class. For safety reasons, please do not drop your child off or have them walk alone through the parking lot. Families should enter through the Seaside Café and proceed to their destination from that entrance. Cafeteria doors will be locked at 8:00 a.m.  Doors to the hallways and Multi-Purpose Room will remain locked for student safety. Also, please note that the bus loop which parallels the building is for school buses and daycare vans only.

When students arrive between 7:30 and 7:50 a.m., they must go to the multipurpose room (K-2) or cafeteria (3-5) to ensure appropriate supervision. After 7:50 students may go directly to class. All exterior doors are locked at 8:00 a.m. Anyone wishing to enter will need to enter through the front office doors and will need to get a tardy pass after 8:00 a.m.  Our school hours for quality teaching and learning begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 2:50 p.m.

Afternoon Car-Rider Procedures
Afternoon procedures are very similar to those of the morning. For the safety of all, there is no parking in the front parking lot or on the grass by the road during afternoon carpool hours (2:50 pm – 3:20 pm). If you would like to walk up to greet your child, please park in the back parking lot and walk around to the front of the school, remembering to remain on the sidewalk, not in the grassy area or in front of the posts (by the cars).

Ø  Please use the LIFESKILL of PATIENCE as we load your child into your car.
Ø  Please follow moving traffic and pull as far forward as space permits.
Ø  For safer loading, children need to enter all cars on the passenger side only. Please make sure that there is a clear path for them to load easily.
Ø  Please refrain from cell phone use when in the carpool line.
Ø  At the end of the day if your child is not picked up by 3:15 p.m. He/she will be sent to Breakers, our after school program.  Parent(s) will be charged the regular fee for after school care.

Thank you for using your LIFESKILLS of Caring, Cooperation, and Integrity, and once again, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
