December 7, 2017

Greetings, Beacon Families!

Every day at Bookman Road our halls and classrooms are full of PTO and school based volunteers assisting teachers, staff, and students become the very best Beacons we can be.  I would like to extend many “thanks” to each of our school partners and volunteers.  Without you, many of the special activities we do here at Bookman Road would not be possible. This week and next week the students will enjoy shopping in the PTO Holiday Shoppe, which allows them the opportunity to exercise the LIFESKILLS of Friendship and Caring. What a great way to teach students about the spirit of giving!

We appreciate everyone who has volunteered in the past, and all who will volunteer in the future.  You take time out of your busy schedules to touch the lives of so many students and we thank you for your support!

Thanksgiving helped us to kick off our unit of study on traditions. We have been “traveling” around the world to learn what the similarities and difference are between our local community and communities around the world and the traditions and cultures that are a part of our lives. We are understanding how families interact with their environments both locally and globally and comparing schools and neighborhoods around the world using our new knowledge of maps to help us!
