New Teacher Feature

I am from Florence, SC, and I have 3 sons. I completed my undergraduate degree at Coker College and completed graduate school at Coastal Carolina University. I worked in secondary education (grades 6-12) for ten years prior to coming to Bookman Road. I enjoy hanging out with my family and friends, reading, traveling, watching the news and NBA games! (Go King James and the CAVS!) I am excited about getting to know my students and their families. My hope is that I will inspire and challenge my students this year while preparing them for the start of their secondary educational experience! I am truly looking forward to "lighting the way" as a member of the Beacon family!

This is my ninth year as a Special Education teacher and my first (full year) with Richland 2 School District, as well as my first year with Bookman Road. In January, I relocated to the midlands when I accepted a position as a Preschool Autism Teacher. I originally "migrated" from Ohio to the Low Country in 2009 after I graduated from college and have been in love with the warm weather ever since. I enjoy staying active and love any form of fitness. When I'm not in my classroom, you can usually find me in the gym, coaching Crossfit and running our gym's Crossfit Kid's Program. I am so excited to be apart of the Bookman Road family and am looking forward to an excellent school year!

This is my 11th year teaching in Richland District II and I'm so excited to begin a new journey at Bookman Road! I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades and 3rd grade is my absolute favorite to teach. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My husband and my two young daughters keep me busy! I also love reading, riding roller coasters, and cheering on my SC Gamecocks! Looking forward to an amazing new year!

If you haven't completed your child's Annual Registration (InfoSnap), please take the time to do that. Students who have not completed this registration are unable to use technology at the school until this online registration process is complete. You can access this on Parent Portal.

 Bookman Road Elementary
School Improvement Council

What is the School Improvement Council (SIC)?
School Improvement Councils were created to provide an opportunity for parents and community members to have an influential voice in the education of their children. SIC members are active participants in the 5-year strategic planning process for improved student achievement, assist in the monitoring and evaluation of innovations and improvements, and assist in the writing of the annual updates of the plan. In conjunction with the school's principal, SIC members are responsible for writing the narrative on the school report card.

The SIC serves as a liaison between the school and community by collecting and disseminating information regarding school improvement.
The 2017-2018 SIC is seeking new members for upcoming year.  If you are interested please contact Mr. Chris Reliford at crelifor@richland2.org or calling the school at 803-699-1724.

New members will be voted on during Open House on September 7.
