Message from the Helm

Greetings, Beacon Families!

For the last two weeks we have been focusing on the LIFESKILL of Cooperation. Cooperation means to work together toward a common goal or purpose. At Bookman Road, we teach students that all of our differences make us unique. A very real part of life is being required to work with others who may think or act differently than we do.
Ways that students may practice cooperation at home is by talking and playing with siblings and friends in supportive ways.  At school, students demonstrate cooperation by working on assignments with their learning clubs, carrying out their classroom services, and working together on grade level charities. Currently, students are working with faculty and staff members to raise money for our district’s United Way campaign.
Cooperation is very important to keeping harmony at home and school. As adults, if we want to live and work in a positive environment we have to be able to work together!

Have a wonderful weekend!
Dr. Kendra Hill

“The greatest motivation to become a better man is knowing that someone looks up to you.

I would like to invite you to become a part of a new program at Bookman Road Elementary.  I need your help to create the BookMEN Group.
The BookMEN will be open to all men who want to support the students of Bookman Road.  Men who want to talk about careers, help create projects, read stories, quarterback at recess, mentor, and so much more.

Our initial meeting will be
Tuesday October 4th at 6pm - 7pm
in the Bookman Media Center.
Our agenda will include:
  • Ideas for a logo and quote.
  • Ideas to recruit others.
  • Ways to volunteer based on teacher survey.
  • Special days and recognition (ex. Veteran’s Day, 100 BookMEN Day, MEN’s Lunch)

If you cannot attend physically but have access to computer or Smartphone, the meeting will also be live on Youtube. youtube.png Search BookMEN Group.
I need and value your input on how to create a successful men’s program at Bookman.  I look forward to seeing you Tuesday.

Chris Reliford
